watchtower has just lost its appeal in the norwegian courts over the withdrawal of the funding it receives from the government as an officially recognised religion.
the initial decision will now stand due to what the court termed 'exclusionary practices' which includes the witnesses barbaric practice of shunning minors, even by family members in their own homes.
the ministry of children and families have decided they are now no longer eligible for the state grant of 16 million norwegian kroner given to officially recognised religions.. the following is a statement has been issued, i have summarised if it isn't readable: .

so a few years i watched a lecture series by a man named dr. micheal heiser called the two powers in heaven, jesus in the old testament.
funny thing was it wasn't even very evangelical in nature, so i turned off my religious binders and just watched it like a regular person.
it turns out that the new testament is a hinge point in the bible.
I just find it amusing that it starts with a fixed point in time at Jesus and as Christendom start introducing new concepts based on Greek philosophy etc and are changing the narrative around the words of Jesus to something else entirely, that the WT point their finger and describe it as the great apostasy caused by "oppressive wolves infiltrating the congregation.
But when the WT organisation moves from a fixed point (C.T. Russell) forward introducing strange new ideas via Franz and Rutherford, the WT describe it as "new light from God".
Personally I see a parallel and am always surprised that WT members cannot even when they are brave enough to explore their own history!
i had to laugh.. i bumped into a friend who has started going back to the meetings and who has that enthusiastic arm-waving way of talking about the stuff they're hearing from the platform.. in part he's wittering on about some talk they'd had about king david and all of his ups and downs.
and says, "and as the speaker emphasized over and over again, we can imitate david because he was a man just like ourselves.".
" i finally interrupted.. that shut him up.

"No he wasn't!" I finally interrupted.
That shut him up. "Think about it," I said, "David had several wives. He was a killer and a soldier. He committed immorality. He engaged in politics becoming a ruler over people. Plus he had an intimate relationship with Jonathan. How many of the congregation you go to are allowed to engage in any of those things?"
And then I walked off leaving him standing there with his mouth opening and closing like a goldfish in a bowl.
Well it gave me a laugh anyway.

can i ask please especially for all who are pomo?.
we've taken a decision similar to revelation 18:4 to get out of the watchtower and not share in its sins.. how many of you still believe that god will one day terminate the world's many systems by means of an armageddon?.

so was a virgin when i got married but my wife studied later in life and had been married for 6 months and had two boyfriends in her past.
my strict witness mother hated my wife and thought she was not good enough for me.
she thought all worldly women were dirty whores who cannot keep their vaginas to themselves.
DarleneGatus,
I can remember that talk from the circuit overseer about oral sex.
It was about the first time that the bored teens in the audience were scribbling down notes. As one of the elders with a dry sense of humour said a few days later "it was the poor man's guide to alternative sexual practices".
whenever you think of your time in the organisation you'll remember all of the books.
every year at a convention, new books brought out.
shelves at home groaning under the weight of multicoloured covered wts books!

And then the weekly Book Study group meetings to study those books, underlining answers laboriously.
As many on this site have said before it was nothing more than a prolific publishing house out to make money from the rank and file.
They don't translate Ecclesiastes 12:12 the way most Bible translations do because it clearly tells you not to do what the WT was doing and made us do -- "But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive study is wearying to the body." (New American Standard Bible).
Instead of a constant stream of books they should have listened to verse 13 of Ecclesiastes 12 -- "The conclusion, when everything has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person." (NASB) It is that simple.
Why didn't we see that when we were in?
just curious about the rest of you.
i was bullied quite badly throughout my school years because of being a witness and not participating in religious holidays, sporting celebrations, assembly (worship), and the like.. it was mostly from other pupils but there were a couple of teachers who definitely treated me badly.
that was back when uk teachers still caned pupils or were allowed to hurl the heavy wooden blackboard duster across the room at them.... i still have ptsd flashbacks on some of those events even after 50 years!

How many other born-ins suffered ill-treatment because of being different at school?
it was the summer of '72.
i was 24 but had been the presiding overseer or congregation servant of a small congregation in the county seat of an arkansas county for about 3 years.. my regular pioneer wife of nearly four years was big and pregnant, with our attempts at birth control unsuccessful.. one of my wife's several bible studies was with a young woman named brenda whom my wife had encountered in door to door work.. brenda had two young children she could barely handle and was married to a very countryfied arkie named henry who worked as a chicken catcher, one of the most difficult jobs at the local chicken plant.. brenda eventually revealed that she'd been raised as a jw, but was never baptized, having left home to marry henry at age 14. she spoke of her family in texas, mentioning her mother and two older sisters, all jws she said.. one morning, just before the meeting for field service, we noticed a small car in kingdom hall parking lot.
my wife and i were parked to one side of the hall in our aluminum nashua house trailer.. two young women got out of the car and soon joined us for the meeting for service, identifying themselves as brenda's sisters from texas.. the two girls, ages 17 and 20, were distractingly beautiful, with the eldest decked out like a magnificent southern belle including hat and heels, her high-end clothing accentuating her very obvious curves.. with no one else showing up for field service, it ended up just the four of us in the car group with the two texas girls in the back seat.. starting our time at a not-at-home, the 20 year old asked if she could accompany me to "hear my presentation.
Ephesians refers to loins girded about with truth.
I often wondered if that's why the "Truth" is so obsessed with the area of their loins in so many of their publications.
